I am Salma. Some titles I associate with: researcher, scientist, writer, poet, pirate.

I am the founder and CEO of Noether Labs. Briefly, I worked on reinforcement learning and large-scale optimization at Google DeepMind. Outside of core infra, I collaborate w/ Sara Seager's group at MIT on exoplanet habitability modeling.

Before GPT-5, I worked on multi-agent learning frameworks for incident triage at Microsoft M365 Research — Systems Innovation. We deployed one of the first RL-informed reliability automation systems to hit production scale in the cloud. Much of that has now informed and inspired the Noether agenda. Before GPT-4o, I worked on privacy and federated learning at OpenMined, a research collective advancing open-source infrastructure for PETs, and in the early GPT-4 window, I interned at Microsoft's Experiences + Devices org.

My research revolves around machine learning for systems and AIOps, cloud computing, multimodal and long-horizon reinforcement learning, and most recently, automated verifiers and benchmarks.

My formal education in university was in computer science and engineering, and machine learning. I also spent a lot of time on topics in computational biology (CMU), robotic perception, logic, physics, and the philosophy of consciousness.

I tend to pick up new skills and hobbies frequently. Over the years, I've learned badminton, keyboard, painting, sketching, origami, horseback riding, swimming, and several languages (Russian, German, Korean, Japanese). More recently, I've been learning Muay Thai. It's surprising how fast you get better at something with sustained effort; and how much learning one thing compounds into another.

You can find me on X and GitHub.

You can email me at salma [at] noether [dot] one.

I try and respond to most email but it really helps if you follow this advice.

The best way to reach out however would be getting an introduction via someone I already know.

I am based in Bangalore.
